Starting Point
Henry Wood House in London, built in 1964, offers flexible office spaces tailored to modern work needs. Originally constructed on the site of the historic St George’s Hall, it is named after the conductor Henry Wood. The first eight floors of the 18-story building exude a homely atmosphere, enhanced by a skillful combination of colors and materials that provide a relaxed, tactile quality. The challenge was to design the various spaces—ranging from work areas and offices to meeting rooms, a penthouse boardroom, and a yoga area—individually while maintaining a cohesive overall design.
Solution
To create visual unity among the spaces in Henry Wood House while ensuring a harmonious design, the choice fell on the fabric MANHATTAN. This material flows throughout the building, distinguished by a striking, slightly irregular grid pattern. The texture lends an elegant touch and imparts a fresh, sporty feel to the rooms. Its unique texture integrates seamlessly with the colour and material combinations, fostering an appealing environment that meets the modern demands of flexible workspaces within an inspiring setting.
