Initial situation
The specialised children’s hospital in Riga invests heavily in the well-being of its patients. A particular focus was placed on rooms that require flexible room partitioning solutions with curtains. The main task was to meet the hospital’s specific technical and functional criteria. The first and most important requirement was for the fabric to be durable and easy to care for. The second requirement was to ensure practical room division and a pleasant colour scheme in order to create a comfortable environment for doctors and patients. As many of the project areas are located near operating theatres, special attention had to be paid to medical equipment – both stationary and mobile. Therefore, the curtain systems had to be practical and easy to operate in different situations.
Solution
The selected fabrics were specially developed for use in healthcare settings. The ZONA partition curtain, developed specifically for healthcare, helps to maintain closeness between children and parents in treatment rooms, while also offering privacy and mitigating the sterile feeling often associated with medical rooms. UNIPRIVO, an extremely durable, moisture- and bacteria-resistant fabric that retains its quality even after numerous washes, was used in the intensive care unit. Colours played an important role: several shades were combined to create a more optimistic and positive atmosphere, especially in the areas for post-operative patients. The colours of the curtains can also be rearranged as needed to refresh the overall look.
