Starting Point
The new Shimizu Corporation branch in Nagoya was designed as a «Communication HUB» – a place that connects people and promotes dialogue. The open atrium, the modern multi-display wall and flexible work areas characterise the architecture. A data-based management system was also integrated to optimise work processes. Particular attention was paid to the acoustic design, as both open communication areas and meeting rooms have different sound requirements.

Solution
To ensure optimum acoustics, textile solutions with sound-absorbing and sound-insulating properties are used. The SILENT acoustic curtain creates targeted quiet zones that enable a focussed working atmosphere.
In glass meeting rooms and conference areas, customised curtains ensure flexible adaptation to the respective requirements. They can be opened or closed as required to provide both acoustic and visual screening. CRAFT, NOLIN and NAXOS fabrics are used here, which provide both privacy and a pleasant lighting effect with varying degrees of transparency.
For the atrium, where events with microphones also take place, a four-layer ACOUSTIC DIVIDER VARIO acoustic curtain system with ARNO acoustic fabric is integrated. This not only enables effective sound insulation, but also a flexible design, as the front and rear sides can be fitted with different fabrics. Specific simulations are used to analyse the reverberation time in order to create an optimum balance between openness and acoustic comfort. The result is a textile solution that combines functionality with design.
