Initial situation
For the practice rooms the aim was to create an atmosphere that combines professionalism with empathy and lightness. In addition to functional requirements – privacy, zoning and acoustics – the focus was on creating a spatial gesture that would also make the wave motif visible in the textiles. The rooms should be fluidly structured – with transitions that convey both openness and security.
Solution
The textile concept translates the wave theme into spatial movement: curtains made of ULTRA fall in gently curved lines from freely drawn rail shapes on the ceiling, structuring the room without separating it. Depending on their function, they serve as changing rooms, retreats or screens, lending the practice a poetic, homely dimension.
At the windows, SINFONIA provides gentle privacy protection, while VELLING, reinforced with OSCULARGO for blackout functionality, serves as an opaque curtain and gives the room a soft component.
The colours of the textiles reflect the overall tones of the concept: soft shades of green, pink and yellow combine to create a harmonious overall effect inspired by Sonnhild Kestler’s colour-intuitive world. In combination with the round light fixtures and curved furniture, a spatial structure is created that combines movement, tranquillity and warmth – entirely in line with the Finnish ‘Aalto’ idea: the functional and the emotional in one flowing
